Welcome to Nyssa!

Nyssa, the "Gateway to the Oregon Trail," is located at the border of Eastern Oregon, about 50 miles from Boise, Idaho, resting on the banks of the Snake River. Just south of town approximately two miles is the site of the Snake River crossing for the Oregon Trail. The town, population 3,185 is where the Oregon Trail begins in present day Oregon.

We are proud of our agricultural roots, and of the multicultural makeup of our community, both present and past. Local businesses, government, civic groups, churches and our school system represent the commitment and spirit of cooperation of our citizens.

This web site highlights our town, our local events, points of interest and information and opportunities within the surrounding area. Please visit the website of the City of Nyssa
